Blues Clues is an endurance geometry bike, which means she was designed for exactly this — long, hard days in the saddle.
The Trek Domane has IsoSpeed technology front and rear. It flexes to absorb road vibration. Your hands and sit bones thank Trek for this.
She is blue. A specific, committed, unapologetic blue. The name was not optional.
Blues Clues will be flying to Argentina in a foam-padded bike box. This is the most anxiety-inducing sentence on this website.
She has been ridden in Texas summer heat, which means she has also been covered in salt deposits. She handles this with dignity.
Blues Clues does not have a power meter yet. She has opinions about this. So do I. We are working on it.
The Trek Domane is often recommended for Ironman precisely because it's comfortable. 112 miles on an uncomfortable bike is an emergency. Blues Clues is not an emergency.
She lives in the garage. The garage is air-conditioned. This was a deliberate housing decision.
Why Blues Clues?
She is blue. Not sort-of-blue, not steel-blue, not navy — she is blue. A confident, committed, this-is-my-whole-personality blue.
Blues Clues was a show about a blue animated dog who left clues. This bike is blue and she constantly leaves clues about my fitness — usually in the form of how hard my heart rate is working on a climb that should not be hard.
The name was immediate. There was no deliberation. Sometimes the right name just shows up.
Blues Clues goes to Argentina
Book bike box transport or rent a travel case
Full service — drivetrain, brake check, derailleur adjustment
Disassemble: remove wheels, pedals, drop handlebars, protect frame
Pack bike box. Wrap everything in bubble wrap. Say a small prayer.
Reassemble in hotel room. Go for a short checkout ride.
Blues Clues carries me 112 miles. We do this together.
