🀠 About

Who tf is doing this?

And more importantly: why?

The honest bio

I'm a normal person with a normal life who made an abnormal decision to compete in a 140.6 mile triathlon. I live in Texas, which means I train in conditions that can best be described as β€œhostile to human performance.”

I'm not fast. I'm not particularly talented. I don't have a coach (yet). What I do have is stubbornness, a non-refundable race entry, and a habit of writing things down.

This website is the result of that habit. Everything here is real β€” the training numbers, the bad days, the surprising good days, the gear experiments, the nutrition disasters.

If you're also doing something that seems too hard, welcome. You're in good company.

How I got here

πŸƒ

Some time ago

Ran first 5k

β€œThought 'that wasn't so bad'”

πŸ“

Shortly after

Signed up for a half marathon

β€œThe 5k clearly wasn't enough punishment”

πŸ“Ί

At some point

Watched Ironman documentary

β€œMade the mistake of being inspired”

πŸ”

A day later

Googled 'how to do an Ironman'

β€œShould have closed the tab. Did not.”

πŸ’³

A week later

Registered for Ironman Texas

β€œ$700 non-refundable. No turning back.”

🀠

Right now

Training. In Texas. In the heat.

β€œYou're here for this part.”

The gear (and the opinions)

I have opinions on gear. Strong opinions, lightly researched. I'll write about it in the blog when I have something useful to say.

Current setup is a work in progress, like everything else around here.

The goal

Finish the race. Cross the line. Hear β€œYou are an Ironman.” Try not to cry. Probably cry anyway.

Sub-12 hours would be nice. But honestly: just finishing is the goal. Everything else is bonus.
